You should not be experiencing wrist pain at all when exercising. Before you do pushups or any kind of plank pose, spend just a few minutes stretching your wrists. I start all my yoga classes with these wrist stretches and you can follow along in this video.
It blows my mind that warming up your wrists is almost completely ignored by a ton of yoga teachers. Going into a plank pose cold, with no warm up or stretching is far from ideal and potentially dangerous. Add these wrist stretches into your routine as soon as possible!
